2.7 My Sections

\includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/Section.png} My Sections holds definition for the cross sections of thin walled beams, also referred to as thin walled sections (TWS for short). The calculated properties can be seen in Chapters/Thin Walled Beams. CADEC features a drawing window where you can draw the cross section of the beam by specifying nodes and segments. It takes a little practice to get used to it. For practice, go to My Documents/My Sections and edit Example 10.5, like this:

On the top of the page, just above the grid, we have 2 fields:

Name. Is required (your choice)

Closed. CADEC automatically detects if the section is closed or not. Closed sections display in a solid color fill.

The icons below the grid are, from left to right:

\includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/in.png} Zoom in.

\includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/out.png} Zoom out.

\includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/fit.png} Fit current section inside the grid.

\includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/SnapToGrid.png} Selections stick to the grid.

The Save \includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/Save.png} buttom is centered at the bottom of the page. If you want to discard all the changes that you made, just leave the page. If you do not click \includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/Save.png} nothing will be saved.

On the right we have two tables: Nodes and Segments. Each one has its own add Node/Segment button: Add a node \includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/newnode.png}, and Add a segment \includegraphics[width=14pt]{./Images/newsegment.png}
