10.5 Strains


Here s/b is the distance from the first node of the segment, $n_ i$, at which the segment’s strain is reported and b is the width of the segment. The strains are:

$\epsilon _ x$ is the axial strain in microstrain, that is $10^6$ times the nondimensional strain.

$\kappa _ x$ is the curvature in microstrain/mm.

$\gamma _{xs}$ is the shear strain in microstrain.

$\kappa _{xs}$ is the twisting curvature in microstrain/mm.
